How to Set Up Volume Discounts for a Service

Volume discounts allow you to offer different prices based on the number of participants booking a service. This can be useful when you want to provide a lower price per person for larger groups.

Before setting up volume discounts, you need to create a group type service and complete the required setup. Follow the steps below to configure the service.

How to Set Up Resources​

Note Resources are entities that provide a service. For example, a resource can be a room, court, or instructor.

  1. Go to your Bookla account.
  2. Open the "Resources" section.
  3. Click the "+ New Resource" button.
  4. Enter the resource name. If needed, you can also change its color.
  5. Click the "Create" button.

Create a Group-Type Service​

  1. Go to the "Services" section.

  2. Click the "+ New Service" button.

  3. Enter the service name and, if needed, change the service color.

  4. Click the "Next" button.

  5. Select the group type of service.

  6. Click the "Next" button.

  7. Select the duration and choose the booking policy:

    • Instant booking: The client can instantly book the service without payment.
    • Needs confirmation: The booking requires your confirmation.
    • Needs prepayment: The client must make a prepayment to confirm the booking.

  8. Click the "Create" button.

  1. Click the "Link with Resource" button.
  2. Select all resources that provide this service.
  3. Click the "Link Resources" button.

Set Up the Schedule for the Service​

  1. Open the created group-type service.
  2. Go to the "Schedule" section.
  3. Click the "+ Add Slot" button.
  4. Select the duration and resource.
  5. Set the starting date and time.
  6. Select whether the slot doesn't repeat, repeats weekly, or follows custom Recurrence Rules.

  1. Click the "Create" button.

Set the Capacity​

  1. Go to the "Capacity" section.
  2. Click the "+ Add capacity rule" button.
  3. Enter the maximum number of spots allowed per booking time slot.
  4. Click the "Create" button.

Add the Currency and Set the Tax Rate​

  1. Go to the "Pricing" section.
  2. Click "Click to set" under Currency.
  3. Select your desired currency.
  4. Click the "Save" button.
  5. Click "Click to set" under Tax rate.
  6. Enter the tax rate required in your country or state.
  7. Choose whether the tax is included in the price.
  8. Click the "Save" button.

Set Up Price Rules​

  1. Click the "+ Add price rule" button.

  2. Configure the following parameters:

    • Enter the price.
    • Enter the compared price (optional).

  3. Optionally, set restrictions for specific days, times, or resources.

  4. Click the "Create" button.

How to Create Volume Discounts​

Volume discounts can be used to offer different prices depending on the number of participants. For example, you can offer a lower price per person when a larger group books the service.

  1. Go to the "Discounts" section.
  2. Click the "+ Add volume discount" button.
  3. Enter the prices for the different group sizes and the price per person.
  4. If needed, add restrictions for specific days, hours, or resources.
  5. Click the "Create" button.

Testing​

After setting up the volume discount, you can preview the service to make sure the correct prices are displayed.

  1. Click the "Preview" button.
  2. Select the time and number of participants.
  3. The prices will now show the current price and the standard price.

Conclusion​

Your volume discount is now set up. Clients will see the applicable price based on the number of participants they select when booking the service.

You can also adjust the volume discount settings later if you need to change the group sizes, prices, or restrictions.
